Mediatrix Inaugurates 5-Storey ‘Annex 2’ with ₱500M Investment, Reinforcing Commitment to Better Patient Care in Southern Tagalog

Lipa City, Batangas – As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering better patient care across Southern Luzon. On September 16, 2025, the hospital officially inaugurated its new 5-storey ‘Annex 2’ Building, marking a major milestone in its expansion.

“This expansion solidifies our commitment to providing accessible, top-tier medical services to the people of Batangas and the surrounding region,” said Jose Ronaldo Delos Santos, President & CEO of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center.

The ‘Annex 2’ Building features several major enhancements:

  • An expanded emergency room designed to handle more critical cases;
  • A Neurological Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as part of the hospital’s Neuroscience Center;
  • An expanded state-of-the-art laboratory department;
  • An additional 40 private patient rooms;
  • A dedicated Wellness Wing offering personalized healthcare plans for a premium patient experience.

This expansion brings the hospital closer to its vision of becoming the largest private healthcare facility in Southern Luzon. It also strengthens its mission to serve all sectors of the community, including underprivileged patients, through the Good Samaritan Foundation, which has already assisted thousands in Batangas and neighboring provinces.

“Pasalamatan natin ang ating Mary Mediatrix – tuloy-tuloy ang kanilang pagsisikap na talagang itaas ang antas ng ating pagkakaroon ng malusog na lipunan” said Batangas Vice Governor Dodo Mandanas, applauding the hospital’s contribution to public health.

The acquisition of advanced medical equipment positions the hospital as a state-of-the-art facility, being the first in Region IV-A to house a dedicated Neuroscience Center, and now equipped with two Catheterization Laboratory to handle cardiac emergencies.

“Our bias for quick action and response to our patients’ and communities’ needs shows that our patients are always at the center of every decision we make, even if it means a significant increase in resource” said Allan Almazar, Senior Vice President for Operations.

Vice Governor Mandanas added: “Yung hindi kaya ng ibang hospital, kapares ng mga ospital ng pamahalaan maraming halos hindi kaya, kailangan dalhin dito”

With the opening of ‘Annex 2’ Building, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center continues to lead the way in transforming healthcare in the region, making world-class medical services more accessible to all.
